American actor and musician Joe Keery, aka Djo, recently released a new single in anticipation for an album release later this year. "Basic Being Basic," which came out January 24th, is the second song off his upcoming album The Crux, which is set to be release on April 4th. Keery is a well known actor – you may know him as Steve Harrington from the Netflix series Stranger Things. However aside from acting, Keery carries on in the music world under the stage name, Djo. "Basic Being Basic" incorporates futuristic noises with fuzzy guitar and falsettos you'd never expect. It's a groovy, 80s synth-pop track that takes a jab at people who are trying to be in the now-moment. Keery utilizes a deadpan singing style in the choruses to convey this message, which simultaneously works well with his unique alt-pop sound.Djo is gearing up for a North American tour this spring starting in Oregon, the same night of his album release.
